Yesterday Sam started coughing and had a runny nose. Not too big of a deal at the time. Then around midnight he felt a bit warm but thought it was because he was sleeping on me. At 3am he woke up and had a temp of 101.5 and I knew that was high for a baby his age. I gave him Tylenol and we stayed up until his fever broke. This morning I called the Dr as soon as they opened and got an appointment. We went in and his temp was only 99.8 which was better but his white blood cells were low and he had no sign of an ear infection etc. Anyway, the Dr said because he is so young with a fever we need to put him in the hospital to make sure he is ok. So...here we are at the hospital. Everyone here has been great and Sam has perked up a little bit. He finally ate....which makes me happy.
So please keep him in your thoughts. Here are a couple of pics I just took of him!
UPDATE: Sam's fever returned at midnight. It's not overly high (100.8) but it is back. They gave him Tylenol and suctioned out his nose. He seems better being able to breathe. He basically went right back to sleep as soon as the nurse was done. I will update again when I know something.
UPDATE PART 2: Finally the Dr. came in to let me know about Sam. He said his Xray didn't show any spots of pnemonia but did show congestion and bronchilitis (sp). Also said that his white count went up which isn't what they want. So, that part isn't good. They also just tested him for RSV so I guess we will find out that soon. He said Sam will be here at least until Monday and then we will see how he is then. Dean is going to come up today so that will be nice to see him and the girls. It is quite lonely in this place. Please continue to send your good thoughts to my lil man!!
Update 3: Sam does NOT have RSV. Not sure what kind of infection he has but I guess we will see how the night goes and what the Dr says in the morning! I will update when I know more. He is eating a lot more though but unfortunately it is going right through....I mean like almost instantly out the other end. Thank goodness for the iv keeping fluids etc in him.
