There's No Place Like Home....

What an eventful weekend we had here. Well, maybe not so much but more than our average weekend. Friday was the St. Patrick's Day parade here in Savannah and the kids were out of school. It is a HUGE deal here. A few friends came over to play and then we went out to Chick Fil A for dinner and so the kids could play. Dean was downtown working the beer tents for the festival. He ended up getting home around 2am. This is his 2nd year working down there. You can make some killer money in a very short period of time. On Saturday he left again around 11am to go back downtown. I took the kids to a cookout we had here in our neighborhood. They had hotdogs and stuff to eat. Kennedy did the bike race (came in last but so cute), water balloon toss, and a sack race. I was so proud of her for taking part in all of that. After that we came home and took a nap...a much needed nap for all of us. When we woke up I took the kids to the mall so they could run around the softplay. Kennedy went to Build a Bear Workshop and bought some things for her cat she made for her Bday. I went to Starbucks so I could feed my addiction...(I think I need to join a program for this one). Anyway....we came home around 8pm and then this is when the fun began...

Get home and see that we have tornado warnings around us. We continue to watch the news and see it coming closer to us. Around 9:30 the lights started to flicker and we got the flashlight out and we were ready. I was trying to decide if we should take cover in the bathroom. They were saying if you lived off of such and such you should take cover...well, we live close to such and such hwy. I kept the kids awake because I didn't want them upstairs asleep and get blown away...lol! Around 10pm that's when the lights went out in Georgia. The girls freaked until I could get the flashlight on. I then lit all the candles I could find. Man...the house reaked by the end of it all. I called my friend to see if she could tell me if we were about to be blown away or not....well, her power was out as well. Come to find out 4 counties were without power. A tornado hit 6 transmitters about 4 miles from our house and knocked out power to about 170,000 people. Poor Dean was downtown in complete darkness. They evacuated everyone and he made it home around 1:30am. Kennedy was so upset and worried about her Daddy. It was really sweet and sad all at the same time. She woke up when he came home. She even suckered him into buying her a new bike on Sunday...lol. . We didn't get our power back until 6:30am. It was really boring sitting in the dark for ages. I couldn't have lived back before electricity.
